Following the crash-landing of Emirates Aircraft in Dubai on Wednesday, the airline on Wednesday cancelled 22 interflights from Dubai International Airports and diverted 22 others to different international airports.

Six other flights were cancelled from outstation airports while four others were returned to their departure airports.

A statement earlier issued by the airline and made available to our correspondent in Lagos confirmed that its flight EK521 travelling from Trivandrum International Airport in Thiruvananthapuram, India to Dubai was involved “in an operational incident upon landing at Dubai International Airport”.

It said there were 282 passengers and 18 crew on board the Boeing 777 aircraft which
departed at 10.19am from Trivandrum International Airport and was scheduled to land at 12.50pm at Dubai International Airport.

“We can confirm that there are no fatalities among our passengers and crew. We are expecting a 8-hour network wide delay, more information will be available on the Emirates website and social media channels”, it said.

The statement added, “We expect operations at Dubai International Airport to resume approximately at 1830 local time, more information on Emirates flights will be available on the Emirates website and social media channels.

“We are doing everything we can to help passengers re-book flights. Emirates commercial passengers and Skywards members who had purchased tickets on or before 3rd August 2016 will have rebooking; re-issue; and cancellation charges waived”.
